Willoughby Britton & Jared Lindahl

Willoughby Britton, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and neuroscientist affiliated with Brown University who teaches psychiatry and human behavior and social sciences. She is director of Brown's Clinical and Affective Neuroscience Laboratory, which researches the effects of contemplative practices on the brain and body. Jared Lindahl is a professor of religious studies at Brown University best known for his research into adverse experiences with meditation. He directs data collection and qualitative analysis for the Varieties of Contemplative Experience research project, which explores the effects of contemplative practices on cognitive, emotional, and neurophysiological processes. Together, they oversee Cheetah House, a non-profit that offers resources and counseling to people who have been harmed by meditation and provides meditation safety training to providers and organizations.
